Birrarung Wilam Walk

A walk with our Aboriginal guide through Federation Square to the Birrarung Wilam (Common Ground) Aboriginal art installations experiencing the history of Birrarung Marr (Beside the river of mists) and Aboriginal People of the Kulin Nations. You will learn the significance of the area to the local Kulin people and how the landscape has changed over time, gaining a meaningful understanding of this important gathering place for the Kulin Nation and one of Melbourne’s most popular meeting hubs.

In this 90-minute immersion in the natural history of Port Phillip Bay Neil shares his 30 years of St Kilda discovery and acknowledges the Yalukit Willam clan of the Boon Wurrung people. Explore the effects of Yarra River (Birrarung) flows on surprising biodiversity, the human impacts of coastal development, microplastic pollution; and community dedication to our natural treasures.
